Using the update site (http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/indigo/sr1)
If I uncheck "Goup items by category", I see a "featureName". If I click "More..." I see it comes from org.eclipse.cdt.xlc.source.feature.group. I looks like the xlc source is missing in cdt_8_0 branch. Also see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=357170
