I tried the proxy cvs access. Our firewall is blocking the access. :(

But the head of CVS is correctly contained in the git clone, right?

Who knows... AFAIK no one actually verifies that the two are the same.
 
The problem is that our company firewall is blocking the access to the CVS repo. I really tried everything on the technical and political side to get access to it.

Have you tried the proxy CVS access:
