[cdt-dev] C/C++ IDL Editor

I'm fairly new to eclipse and I'm trying to setup an environment that has a nice interface to developing C/C++ code.

I'm
using Egit and downloaded the IDE for C/C++, however when I open a file
in the git repository it only shows a normal text editor.  
I was expecting to see functions highlighted or highlighting of the beginning and end brackets.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
