You're right, committer rights are a responsibility, not a reward. The
question at hand is whether we know enough about him to trust him with
that responsibility.

And to that end, platform contributions should count. It's all part of
his resume. I was infuriated with the Platform team when the vetoed
James when his body of work on the CDT proved to me he would be a
great committer there.

So the question is whether there is enough evidence to warrant giving
Patrick the responsibility. The more I hear about him the more I think
there is. And it's clear from the demo he gave, he's pretty serious
about contributing in the future. I'm voting +1.
