For an attach session, DSF-GDB should not require a project.  However, when I tried it with HEAD and 7.0, it gives the error that is mentioned in the thread you point to.  This is a bug (and a regression) from Galileo.

 

Go ahead and open a bug to say that an Attach session should not require a project or binary.

How can I create a debug session without a initial project , why do I need to specify a project while configuring a debug session.
