I'm not opposed to changing the major version for any ideological
reasons, it's just a cost vs. benefit question. I'd suggest that we tag
bugs which would benefit from a breaking API change with the "api"
keyword and review these periodically. If the community feels that the
major API change is warranted then we should go for it :-)
