Webmaster reply:
I can change the name. However by default Bugzilla presumes the 'most recent' entry in the version list is the
'default', so renaming them wont fix that.
Strange, that would have made 8.0 the default by now.
In fact when I go to file a new bug I get 6.0 as the default.
What if we add the 0 - DD... ones and then add immediately "8.0" after that so that it becomes the last one ;-)

It comes in handy once in a while to have this historical record, especially
since we lost the CVS records while moving the code between projects.
Renaming to "0 -..." solves the problem of the default selection when
filing bugs so it should have no other cost. I can volunteer to move non
DSF bugs to "7.0".

Do you really need them? I can add a comment when I move them, i.e
was DD 0.9

How about something that won't cause us problem of alphabetical sorting,

Webmaster said he can delete these version. Any objections? I still
need an answer about to what version
assign bugs that belongs to it now.

OK will talk to him (webmaster). If lets say it is possible where you
want all bugs assigned which does have
this version now (legitimately)? Bunch of bugs which have this version
are by mistake we have to deal with this separately. Can non-dfs
component owners go through bugs with these versions and fix them now?

I should clarify. The ability to change them is not available in the committer tools. We may be able to ask webmaster to do this, but the
last
time I talked to Denis about it, he said it was pretty painful.

Nope, you can't remove versions from bugzilla. And they are default
because they have the lowest id numbers which you can't change
either. Trust
me, I would have long ago :).

Doug can you remove these versions from bugzilla please? (DD*).
They
are always default for some reason and it is very annoying.
We can move bugs that using these to some other earlier cdt
version.
We should ether set default to 7.0 or Unspecified.
