FWIW that doesn't help if the proxy is configured to only passthrough HTTP, which many of them are (for obvious reasons). Even if there were a transparent 443 proxy, that is often checked to ensure that the protocol is a TLS stream.

When CDT goes git, the HTTP access should finally permit people to check out from behind a firewall.
