  I've just started doing this myself, what worked for me was to use the
predefined CDT project set from http://www.eclipse.org/cdt/psf/cdt-main.psf

  I used a fresh 3.6M5 full SDK release
(http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/helios/m5), updated with
(by unpacking into the dropins folder) a recent copy of the cdt 7.0.0 master
package from the cdt nightly builds page
(http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/), and everything "just worked"
first time for me.
