Just to elaborate, it was the built in mk file copied and pasted from gnu make almost five years ago. Of course, now we all know not to do something like that :)

I had to do a checkin. There were some bad, bad things going on in the make.core plugin.

This is going to sound much scarier than it actually is, but as a result I'm deliberately introducing the following bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=236253. The upshot of this is that builtins will not currently show up in the content assist of the makefile editor. It is fixable, but too risky to attempt for 5.0.
