Just to confirm, I also renamed the x86
directory so the Spawner is not being used and it now works fine with cygwin.

One other thing, I
don’t know whether it is important but I am getting the same error for
Eclipse 3.3M6 and CDT4.0 on my machine. After renaming the ‘x86’
directory it works.

Sorry Rekha, I missed your
point that the program did successfully compiled when you removed the spawner.
That seems to confirm that
this is the Spawner problem. Unfortunately I'm not an expert in the spawner
functionality.
Probably others could give
any additional hints so that we could localize and fix the problem.
