RE: [cdt-dev] FW: [cross-project-issues-dev] Europa milestones ne eded

Good question. Give that it’s a major release and the major theme is API change (just kidding J)… Actually it’s up to the committers as a group. When will everyone be comfortable with an API freeze? Code freeze, i.e. the point where we only fix bugs, will likely happen in sync with the Platform which will likely be sometime during April next year. We had a nice two month ramp down this year that worked very well. With all the churn coming in 4.0, we may need a bit longer, something like mid-Apr to end-June.

Hi Doug,

>Hey gang, here are the target milestones currently under consideration by the Platform. Europa, the next simultaneous release which will include CDT 4.0, usually follows these by a couple of weeks. End of August might be a great time for CDT 4.0 M1. Something to think about.

Given that M1 is in the end of August and M4 is in the end of December-beginning of January 2007(following to the platform plan below), when are the API freeze and Code freeze should happen?

I’m asking because I’d like to know what time slot we will have for the 4.0 development.

Thanks,

Mikhail

If it helps, the eclipse platform project is tentatively targetting the following dates for the first milestones, following the usual six week rhythm:

        Thursday Aug. 10, 2006 - Milestone 1 (3.3 M1) - stable build
        Friday Sep. 22, 2006 - Milestone 2 (3.3 M2) - stable build
        Friday Nov. 3, 2006 - Milestone 3 (3.3 M3) - stable build
Friday Dec. 15, 2006 - Milestone 4 (3.3 M4) - stable build

These dates will be confirmed when the first draft of the 3.3 plan is released, either at the end of this week or early next week.

I know we discussed the general flavor of the Europa milestones at the Chicago planning council, but as September approaches the projects will need definitive dates for at least the first of these, and ultimately the calendar for the rest of the year. Are we ready to set these dates?
