As I can see from the trace gdb stops responding after "var-update". I
believe that it crashes. I don't have machine with SuSe Linux available, but
you can easily check it on your box.

I have this strange phenomenon that breakpoints and single stepping seem
to be without effect a mini demo multithreaded program. Find details in
