RE: [cdt-dev] CDT at Eclipsecon

Hi folks,

Well, I understand your frustrations. I agree you almost need a
separate conference for CDT. I think that's actually true for quite a
few of the projects. The mini-conference idea on Monday is a good one,
although I don't know if there are any empty rooms available from
Eclipse. I'll ask at the next Program Committee meeting. I imagine it
wouldn't be too hard to rent a conference room for the day if you wanted
to go that route. Also, someone from the project (Doug S perhaps) can
create a "recommended track" that will show up on the EclipseCon
website. Bjorn sent instructions for doing this to
eclipse.org-technology-leads. This will highlight all talks that you
think would be interesting to CDT developers and users.

Tutorials: these slots were even more coveted than the long talks, if
you can image that.

Ken Dyck talk: my impression was that AMI actually built a commercial
product on top of CDT, so this would therefore be a perfect talk for
ISV's doing the same thing. Perhaps I'm wrong about the details of what
they've done, though.

BOF's: these are scheduled ad-hoc at the conference.

Anyway, I still hope you are all coming to Eclipse, and I look forward
to seeing you there.

Actually, I'm just happy we got one long talk. It was looking like
nothing
there for a while.

I guess the ideal situation would have been a tutorial for ISV's.
Something
that can be more interactive than a long talk could provide. Actually,
for
the next summit, I'd like to see us more in the code than we were at the
last one and maybe take a more ISV-centric approach.

I also think we need to go beyond the one shot conference to share all
information. We have the wiki set up and the ISV docs as a way a way to
educate vendors. Our website definitely needs improvement so that ISVs
know
where to find information and help build excitement around the CDT. It
would
be a more lasting solution.
