Just tried .../eclipse/eclipse -clean as both root and user.  Root was
fine.  User has the same error. 

So this is a messed up install ?

Could I manually clean up my Eclipse files ?  What if I removed the
user .eclipse and workspace/.metadata folders ?  Anything else ?
