I'm sure others will pipe up, but I think this would be a mistake.
New versions of gdb seem to take some time before to make it to the core
toolsets
for the various environments, and my guess is that it will take a few years
for
the majority to move to 6.x. 

Is there any strong reason to want to drop 5.x?
