Re: [cdt-dev] HEAD branch and Eclipse platform version.....

Thanks, Bogdan should be the one delivering on your order...

The breakage certainly wasn't intentional and we had full intentions of
backing out his change. But Dave Inglis sounded amenable to the move so we
went for it. The funny thing is that Bogdan's change unveiled a search API
change between M8 and Apr 13 that we hadn't noticed before.

I'm not sure how previous Eclipse releases went as for API change, but it
really has been open season this release. To help deal with this in the
future, I'd like to see members of the CDT team interacting more with the
platform team, to educate them on how the CDT uses their APIs, That way
when they do decide to change, they keep us in mind and ease our pain a
bit. I know the debug team and our debug team have been working well this
way and I'm starting to see the same happen in other areas. Looking at the
other projects on Eclipse.org, we are by far the biggest user of these
APIs (as far as breadth at least) and it's time to throw our weight around
a bit.

Anyway, thanks Alain, Dave, and Co. for your help and understanding on
this. Hopefully, this won't be some painful in the future.

Cheers,
Doug Schaefer, IBM's Eclipse CDT Architect

Looks good. Thanks .. boston cream with decaf.

Please remind us, next time someone comes with the great idea of
forcing CDT to be in sync with Eclipse ... to get the baseball bat.
Like the canadian $ we should float ... free .. free ... free .. at last
