Yes there is a connection.  And yes there is membership in the working
group from the CDT community, from Intel, from Apple, and then some.

If you look at the DMI website you will see what the working group is
attempting to accomplish.

I have long felt that the MI interface would benefit from having a
standard spec, much like dwarf.  We (the Intel Debugger) emit the MI
interface to plug-in to CDT (I am the manager of the team), so it is in
our interest and to the benefit of all to work toward unifying the API.

GDB is the reference implementation.  You will see the working group
members on the web page (http://dmi.freestandards.org/).

We have only just started and it will take time and effort, so be
patient :).
