[cbi-dev] Fwd: [location-iwg] scala groupid / namespace discussion

The folks on the LocationTech projects are in the early stages of setting up their namespaces and Maven repositories.  They have been looking at what has been happening in the Eclipse space, and are preparing, and proposing possible alternatives and best practices.

The following bugs may be of interest to this group.  Please note, Eclipse accounts work the same on LocationTech.org

https://locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=25
https://locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=26
https://locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=27
https://locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=28

Thanks for any insight you may have.

Denis

I created an issue in order to have something to link to https://locationtech.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=28
That does help. I'll have to do some research into what the Scala namespacing conventions are in the wild and recommended by the community, and then propose a policy that could be put on that wiki page for Scala projects that will be in line with both the Eclipse world and the Scala world.

Thanks,
Rob
I was thinking with a bit more of a clear head on this one, and could see following maven repository conventions for publication to the wider community, while maintaining short and sweet package names to agree with Scala programming conventions.
