it sounds like disabling p2.greedy is not the answer (and, no, I don't think there is a way to disable it in p2 ... its a function of how the IU/bundle was defined and published) ...

I think the "problem" is that you are trying to install something into your IDE that is intended to be installed only into (or, as) a "runtime target".  And if your ultimate goal is to "see" the source ... not to worry, you can "see" the source when it is part of a runtime target too ... or, at worse, import the source into your IDE.
