Minutes

BIRT 2.2 Development

BIRT 2.2 M5 New and Notable has been published: http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/notable2.2M5.php.

Next release is M6, which is on schedule for release on April 6. With the M6 release the runtime will support Java 1.4.2, but the Report Designer will still require Java 1.5.

General Information

The next major release of BIRT is BIRT 2.2, scheduled for June 2007 as part of the Europa Simultaneous Release (http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Europa_Simultaneous_Release).

The Development Plan for BIRT 2.2 is available on the Eclipse BIRT pages (http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/project_plan_R2_2_0.php). A number of BIRT Project Specifications (BPS) relating to BIRT 2.2 have been posted on the BIRT Wiki.

For a list of bugs assigned to the release, refer to Bugzilla: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?classification=BIRT&target_milestone=2.2.0

Adding Examples to the BIRT Wiki

To make it easier for the community to add examples on the BIRT Wiki, we have documented the process doing this:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Contributing_Examples_%28BIRT%29

We will also consider pulling good examples into the Report Sample View that is part of the BIRT Report Designer.

EclipseCon 2007

Last week was EclipseCon 2007 in Santa Clara, CA. This was an excellent event with many well attended BIRT related sessions. The "BIRT: Introduction to the Eclipse Business Intelligence & Reporting Tools Project" session had over 200 attendees, a reflection that even with the popularity of the BIRT project, many people are still just now discovering the project.

Thanks to all the presenters involved with the BIRT project who put in a lot of hard work to make the BIRT sessions a reality and a success.
