BIRT 2.1.2 Development
This release is tracking for it's Feb 16 release date. Daily build <20070205-1728>, which was made available this morning, is the Release Candidate build for the release. Since the last PMC meeting, 7 additional Bugzilla items were added to the 2.1.2 list, bringing the total to 66.
General Information
BIRT 2.1.2 is the second maintenance release in the BIRT 2.1 release series and is intended to be narrow in scope since the development team is concentrating on BIRT 2.2. BIRT 2.1.2 is part of the Callisto coordinated maintenance release plan (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Callisto_Coordinated_Maintenance). The 2.1.2 release is focused on addressing critical bugs identified by the community, including any critical issues raised by other Callisto projects.

Proposed Release: BIRT 2.1.3
BIRT 2.1.3, a new maintenance release in the BIRT 2.1.x series is proposed to follow BIRT 2.1.2. This release would be aimed at addressing additional issues identified by the community and/or to encourage adoption of BIRT. At this stage, we have identified 3 minor project areas that we would want to address:
Timeframe for BIRT 2.1.3 is to be determined, pending an update from the IP folks on the progress of iText. Depending on that timeframe, we will either wait for iText to pass the IP process, or schedule 2.1.3 independent of that date.
As with BIRT 2.1.2, the release is intended to be narrow in scope.
We will create and post a development plan for this release. For now, any items assigned to the release can be found at: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?classification=BIRT&target_milestone=2.1.3
iText and the Eclipse IP Process
The iText library continues to work it's way through the Eclipse IP process and we have not had an update for a while. Wenfeng is going to ping Janet to see if any progress has been made.

BIRT 2.2 Development
BIRT 2.2 Milestone 5 continues to be targeted for Feb 23. The BIRT team will be wrapping up their work this week, and the final build and packaging will happen closer to the Feb 23 date.
General Information
The next major release of BIRT is BIRT 2.2, scheduled for June 2007 as part of the Europa Simultaneous Release (http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Europa_Simultaneous_Release).
The draft BIRT 2.2 Development Plan has been published: http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/project_plan_R2_2_0.php. As previously indicated, not all projects in BIRT 2.2 are committed/staffed yet. While we are still in the process of research to determine project scope and feasibility for the release, we have identified one project that we do not have the resources to address: the XML Output Emitter. We would welcome any proposals from the broader community for assistance in developing this project.
A number of BIRT Project Specifications (BPS) relating to BIRT 2.2 have been posted on the BIRT Wiki.
BIRT 2.2 Development: XML Output Emitter
As noted in previous minutes, this item in the BIRT 2.2 plan is currently not being worked on and no development resources are available to work on it.
Since nobody in the community has volunteered to work on this, we are going to remove this from the BIRT 2.2 development plan.
EclispeCon 2007
A couple more Short Talks for the reporting track have been submitted and will be accepted.
