RE: [birt-dev] BIRT Combo and List box

Also +1 for changing the behavior. With the caveat that we obviously need to maintain upward compatibility in some way.

We should change the BIRT behavior. Yes, current users will notice the difference, but they will probably feel that we have fixed a bug rather than broken existing behavior.

Subject: [birt-dev] BIRT Combo and List box

The definitions for combo box and list box from Wikipedia is:

combo box is a combination of a drop-down list or list box and a single-line textbox, allowing the user to type a value directly into the control as well as being able to pick from the list of existing options.

A list box allows the user to select one or more items from a list contained within a static, multiple line text box.

Currently, BIRT has the opposite definition. Since we have this for long time and probably users are all used to this,  how many feel BIRT needs to change the combo and list box behavior?

 Thanks!
