[birt-dev] Preview menus on Eclipse toolbar and File menu
Title: Preview menus on Eclipse toolbar and File menu

Similar case also exits: The preview menus on Eclipse Toolbar and File menu (in cascading menu group) are available on all the eclipse’s perspectives, but not enable unless report or template opened on editor. Shall we let the preview menus keeping the above behaviors, or remove them in case of report or template isn’t opened on editors.

It the former is OK, whether it is proper to enable the preview menus when report or template is selected on Resources Navigator in Eclipse IDE?

In eclipse, ActionSet is associate with part (view or editor), we currently associate the publish action set with the report editors, thus, when there is no editors opened, the publish action set is no available in File menu group. But the context menu is contributed by org.eclipse.ui.popupMenus, so it is shown when the correct element is selected.

If we associate the publish action set with navigator view, the action set will be shown always when navigator view is on, no matter what perspective it in. We can just disable the menu when the selected element is not what we want, but we can’t remove it from File menu group.

Shall we make this change?

      Hi Qiangsheng and Wenbin,

      I added the following notes to this SCR since Aashima is not available to verify.  This has been marked as failed tests.

      The behavior is identical to what Aashima describes.

      This option is available from the context menu, but not available from the File menu when a library is highlighted, but not actually opened in the editor.
