Minutes
BIRT PMC Meeting Logistics
Due to a combination of travel schedules, Eclipse Council meetings and the holiday period, there were no Eclipse BIRT PMC meetings between November 21st and January 11th. Regular meetings will resume Mondays at 10am Pacific from January 23rd.

New BIRT PMC Member
Mike Fox from IBM has been nominated by Wenfeng Li to join the BIRT PMC to coordinate IBM's contributions to the BIRT project. Several IBM developers had made great contributions in design, code and review to BIRT's charting, XML data source, report designer UI, and reporting engine during the BIRT 1.0 and 2.0 release.

The PMC voted and unanimously accept Mike as a member of the PMC.
Mike's participation to the PMC will help us plan and coordinate IBM's contributions better in coming releases. Welcome on board!

Committer Updates
Voting has taken place for a number of new committers to the BIRT project over the last month or so. Each has at least 3 votes in their favor and no votes in opposition. The PMC accepts each of the following as new committers to the BIRT project:

BIRT 2.0 Update
We are planning a number of Release Candidates (RC) for BIRT as we approach the BIRT 2.0 final release. The RC releases are intended to provide the community with the opportunity to work with and test the BIRT releases as we get closer to the release. RC and RC 1 have already been released, and RC 2 is targeted for early in the week of Jan 16th.

After RC 2, we plan to address only show-stopper critical defects that must be fixed in BIRT 2.0.
As soon as RC 2 is available, we encourage the community to test this Release Candidate as much as possible and report defects via Bugzilla.

The target date for the BIRT 2.0 release is January 20th.
BIRT 2.0 Release Activities
With the availability of BIRT 2.0, we plan to simultaneously:
Publish a complete New and Noteworthy document that covers new functionality introduced in all the BIRT 2.0 milestone releases
Update the BIRT download and install instructions with the additional information required for BIRT 2.0.

We will also be updating the examples and demos to be BIRT 2.0 based, although this will happen in phases after the BIRT 2.0 release is available.

BIRT 2.1 and Future Planning
The BIRT 2.1 release will be part of the Eclipse Callisto Simultaneous Release (see http://www.eclipse.org/projects/callisto.php). We will be following the Callisto Milestone schedule starting with M5 on March 3rd. For detailed schedule information, see the Callisto link.

Detailed planning for BIRT 2.1 will be occurring in the coming weeks, with the goal of publishing a draft plan by the end of January/early February.

As always, the community is encouraged to ensure they enter their enhancement requests into Bugzilla for consideration in BIRT 2.1 and future releases.

Eclipse.org/birt Web Site
Once BIRT 2.0 is complete, we plan on updating the BIRT web pages with the new "Phoenix" look and feel.
Conferences
Jason is submitting a proposal on BIRT for the JBoss conference.
We have 3 presentations at EclispeCon. Scott is going to check what the submission deadlines are for completed presentations.
