Re: [babel-dev] Questions regarding Kepler and adding a project

Hi Kit,

thanks for your reply. Without further checking I would say it's okay for us not to have RAP 2.0 translations because most users will use 2.1 anyway, and even if they were using 2.0 they could try the 2.1 version. What's not so nice is that I translated many strings of 2.0 and this work is probably lost.

I wasn't aware of any problems with the language packs of RAP and the Eclipse Platform. I'll follow up on the bug. Right now our p2 repository entries for RAP 2.1 seem to have vanished.

Thanks and regards,

Markus,

The translatable files extracted from RAP (2.1, 2.0, 1.5) used to include some files from Eclipse Platform plugins and caused a problem with the Eclipse Platform language packs. I fixed problems in Bug 411460 [1]. RAP 2.1 is included in the Kepler release train, but we are actually not building the RAP 2.0 language packs anywhere. Therefore, I disabled the files for RAP 2.0.

We are running the syncup script to pull existing translations from RAP 2.0 to 2.1. However, the progress is very slow. I started the syncup on Monday night. It has been more than 30 hours. We only finished about 10 languages. If you look at the translation percentage for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese & Czech, they are about 80% complete.

Denis, either the Babel translation  database is getting very big, or the syncup performance enhancement in Bug 380524 [2] is not working very well. Can you take a look at that?

Hi Denis,

thanks for your answer.

Unfortunately the following issue got worse...

I've been adding/updating some of my Eclipse projects following the advices in "Add an Existing Eclipse Project to Babel" [1]. Then I went to the translation tool [2] in the hope to see the new versions, bundles, etc. listed there, but wasn't able to find them. Then I thought that it may be an update job that updates the database every night and tried to find the new bundles the day after, but again they weren't there.
I'll have to look into that.

While RAP 2.1 shows up now, RAP 2.0 seems to be gone (which is bad for us...)

But even worse is that we are now down to 0 percent translation (in my case I've been looking for German translations but a quick check reveals that all languages are affected).

If it is easier for you to track these issues, I certainly can open bugs.

Thanks,
Markus
