Re: [babel-dev] WTP's "R2_0_maintenance" map files

how about we the Babel project establish a rule that we will extract strings only from the major project releases (R2_0_0 in WTP's case)?
+1

I think if the project wishes to maintain its map files in Babel to point to the latest maintenance release that would be great, but we, the minuscule Babel team, shouldn't go beyond maintaining the x.0 map files.

Note that any new strings introduced in a maintenance for critical bug fixes should be ported to the next major release anyway. That will reduce the map file maintenance work for all projects in Babel, and reduce the clutter of multiple maintenance releases for each project in Babel.

Anyone may comment on this idea, thanks!

Kit, if you go to the file log (strip &pathrev=R2_0_maintenance from the URL) and do a find for R2_0_maintenance, you'll see that it is a branch tag (see attached screenshot).  This branch is equivalent to 'head' for the current 2.x development and it's not the tag that was used to build the latest 2.x release.

http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/webtools.maps/releng.common/maps/jst-common.map?root=WebTools_Project

In the screenshot I see a CVS tag called R2_0_2 and R2_0_3.  Because 2.0.3 is the latest WTP 2.x release on their download page [1] I'd use that tag instead, like this:

http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/webtools.maps/releng.common/maps/jst-common.map?root=WebTools_Project&view=co&pathrev=R2_0_3

Denis and other CVS experts,

I followed WTP's instructions (see bug 244043) and found their "R2_0_maintenance" map files:

However, when I click on them, I receive an exception and Python traceback. I opened bug 250671 but it's been mraked as 'NOT_ECLIPSE'.

Anyone sees anything wrong with the links?
