[auto-iwg] Software experts hack cars, demonstrating security issues

All,

While the tragic train accident in Spain near Santiago de Compostella so far seems more like a combination of human and technical errors (e.g. the modern system ETCS ending literally a few hundred meters before the place where it happened) "White hat" software experts just demonstrated, how to hack various car models and e.g. force them to suddenly break at 80 mph, something that may cause similar accidents by cars as you may imagine:

Lack of security is a sad and critical problem of nearly all M2M solutions hailed as "The Holy Grail for the  IoT", here or elsewhere, but for some use cases like Automotive or Healthcare this can be especially tragic and fatal if security leaks are abused by makers of malware or cyber terrorists before found by well-meaning security experts like in this case.

Kind Regards,
