==========
Motivation
==========

Modularity plays an important role on software quality improvement. Advanced modularization techniques provide composition mechanisms and abstractions to help on taming concerns that cut across traditional abstraction boundaries.

The Latin American Workshop on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (LA-WASP) - Advanced Modularization Techniques is annually held together with CBSoft and aims at advancing our understanding about software modularity as well as bringing together the Latin-American researchers and practitioners interested in topics related to modularity to share and discuss ideas, strengthen research group collaborations, and identify new research opportunities.

The LA-WASP 2013 follows the successful of three editions (2004, 2005, and 2006) of the Brazilian Workshop on AOSD (WASP) and six editions (2007 - 2012) of the LA-WASP.

==================
Topics of Interest
==================

The scope of LA-WASP is advanced modularization techniques in general, such as aspect-oriented software development, feature-oriented programming, software product lines, and computational reflection. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Requirements Engineering
Software Architectures
Frameworks and Product Lines
Domain Engineering
Generative Programming
Feature Orientation
Analysis, Design or Architectural Patterns
Contracts, Components and Aspects
UML and Model-Driven Development
Modular Reasoning
General-Purpose and Domain Specific Languages
Mining of crosscutting concern
Software Reengineering and Refactoring
Reverse engineering
Interference and Composition of Aspects
Computational Reflection and Metaprogramming
Formal Methods
Software Reuse, Maintenance and Adaptability
Software Verification and Validation
Metrics and Assessment
Software Processes and Development Methodologies
Development Environments and Tools
Industrial Applications of Advanced Modularization Techniques
Practical studies involving Advanced Modularization Techniques
Modularity and Education

===============
Workshop Format
===============

LA-WASP.13 is a one-day workshop and will be strongly focused on discussion. The workshop program includes an invited talk, technical paper presentations, poster exhibitions and thematic group discussions.

=====================
Submission Guidelines
=====================

The workshop will accept both technical papers (up to 6 pages) and posters (up to 2 pages). Submissions in English are strongly encouraged, although papers/posters can also be written in Portuguese or Spanish. Submitted papers must be unpublished and should not be under review elsewhere. The acceptance of a paper implies that at least one of its authors will register for the workshop to present it. All submissions must be in PDF format, and must follow the IEEE conference proceedings format (http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html). All papers must be submitted using the JEMS conference system (https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/), up to 23:55 of the informed deadline (Apia/Samoa time).
The workshop proceedings will be published in the CBSoft.13 CD-ROM.

================
Best Paper Award
================

We will acknowledge and award the best workshop paper. Additionally we will invite authors of best papers to submit an extended version to the Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JBCS).
