It looks like it's my fault. It's a bug described here:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=122370
and it was fixed a long ago.

My error - I had aspectj 1.5.3 in my dependency, but was using aspectj-maven-compile plugin 1.0-beta-1 which uses aspectj 1.5.0

I'll check it further and let you know if that was the cause.
