Re: [aspectj-users] AspectJ1.5.3 released

Thank you and congratulations!

Looking at the changes in this release, I must say that AspectJ is moving in the right direction. At this point, improving AspectJ to be more serviceable and robust is important to make it easier to use on large projects.

We are pleased to announce the release of AspectJ1.5.3. It is
available from the AspectJ download page:

http://www.eclipse.org/aspectj/downloads.php

It includes over 80 bugs and enhancements we have addressed since
AspectJ1.5.2. The major themes of this release were reducing memory
consumption for compilation, improving LTW and enhancing our
serviceability. The readme provides more details on the larger
changes:

(The readme also includes a bugzilla query that lists all the changes
in AspectJ1.5.3)

Thanks to everyone for downloading and trying out the release
candidate of 1.5.3, we did uncover a few things that needed resolving
before releasing this final version. We appreciate the time and
effort it takes to submit good quality bug reports and create test
programs that demonstrate the failures and we'd like to thank the
following people for taking the time:
Ron Bodkin, Matt Chapman, Wang Bin, Rob David, Matt Whitlock, Dake Gu,
Brian Keyser, Helen Hawkins, Steve Park, Eugene Kireyev, Ales Krestan,
Curt Cox, Christophe Delhorbe, Arjun Singh, Ramnivas Laddad, Dean
Wampler, Thomas Zuberbuehler, Depp Jones, Gilles Menard, Paulo Zenida,
Wim Deblauwe, John D Heintz, Eberhard Wolff, Karl Schaefer, Christian
Schneider, Eugene Kuleshov, Adam Smyczek, Gerard Davison, Vincenz
Braun

And for going a step further and supplying enhancements and fixes for
the codebase, we'd like to especially thank Helen Hawkins and Ron
Bodkin.

An AJDT release containing 1.5.3 will be available imminently.

enjoy!

The AspectJ Team.
