Yes, I had Equinox Aspects in the features/plugins directories under Eclipse, but this still didn't work. I believe I was getting some errors on startup - I mean I saw the errors in the log, but the Eclipse UI would not come up. I'm willing to attempt it again in order to better report the problem, but I'd like to feel that it's worth it in the sense that this configuration of Eclipse is not considered so rare that any related solutions are put on the back-burner.

Bug 257178 has been raised to track exactly this issue.  We are really
hoping that it will make it into Eclipse 3.5 (even though there is no
AJDT version targeting it yet).
