A quick status update.... we started working through the metadata proposal 
this afternoon, looking at various patterns and seeing what users might 
write and how easy or otherwise it would be to unambiguously determine 
what join points a given pointcut expression would match. This exercise 
has forced us to go back to the drawing board in a number of areas (in 
particular, the general extension of TypePattern to allow annotations just 
seems to get too complex too quickly). The docs are now in CVS head (docs 
module), and we'll be updating them there with a revised proposal over the 
next day or so....
