Thanks! I selected all 18 projects and did the check out simultaneously and that 
worked. Only import and deprecated warnings (and one TODO) appeared. I did not 
checkout aspectj-attic because none of the testing or building modules needed it 
(according to the FAQ). (Not sure what aspectj-attic is.)
