[aperi-dev] Re: Eclipse - SAN Simulator

Hi Sundar,

Aperi SAN Simulator simulates CIM Agent(s) of CIM compliant devices in two modes; i) snapshot ii) configuration. Pls. find attached, a paper that describes the architecture and use-cases for this simulator. You can use one of the following or any CIM/SMI-S compliant management solution to connect to SAN Simulator and try out :
- Aperi Storage Resource Manager
- eCute (http://sblim.wiki.sourceforge.net/Ecute )
- any standard CIMClient (e.g. http://sblim.sourceforge.net/cim-client-doc/index.html)

(See attached file: ROUTRAY-iSAN.pdf)

Hi Sundar,

I would suggest you install Sun JDK 1.5 in c:\java5 and set an environment variable JAVA_HOME to c:\java5\jdk and try. Configuration based simulation should go through without any problem. I assume you are installing the JDK, not the JRE only .

Re: Eclipse - SAN Simulator

Dear Sir,

Am trying to simulate in config-mode.

As you said i tried %JAVA_HOME% from the Run prompt and it points to " C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_17 " where i installed jdk 1.5_17.

Is java5 a different software?. I have installed jdk 1.5_u17. Please correct me if am wrong.

Please help me on this...

Thanks in Advance.

With regards,

Sundar.

Hi Sundar,

You are trying to simulate the device in snapshot-mode or config-mode ?

One potential problem could be the JAVA_HOME environment variable. From command prompt, check your environment variable (echo %JAVA_HOME%). (e.g. as in the video, try to install Sun Java5 in c\java5 and your echo %JAVA_HOME% should return c:\java5\jdk)
