[aperi-dev] Calling all Client Developers!!! SNIA is asking for our help...

As per the email below, Aperi has been asked to provide client feedback for SMI-S.  This is a great opportunity to improve and tighten the spec with just a few minutes of your time and I strongly encourage you to send in your comments.  As part of the Aperi PRTF WG we've collected some high-level comments -- and we'll continue to drive more investigation into the spec-level issues -- but I really want to open it up to the larger Aperi audience as I know there are folks out there with lots to say.  The ballot expires on September 15, so there's still time left to get your comments in.

For those who are SNIA members, you can enter your comments directly into the ballot here:

https://www.snia.org/apps/org/workgroup/maptwg/ballot.php?id=3736

Or, if you are not a SNIA member, please forward your comments to me (martinew@xxxxxxxxxx) and I'll pass them on to the right people.

Thanks!

Duane,

We talked about you late in the Governing Board call, but apparently you
had hung up. The topic was - would it make sense to try to get some
reviews from Aperi folks as part of this review cycle?

When Martine presented information on futures with the PRTF, he
mentioned Aperi folks would also be interested in performing spec
reviews.  My opinion is that Aperi developers would be awesome
reviewers. I know we'd like to get a better understanding of the SMI
relationship with "Aperi: the Entity", but that is likely to take some
time.  In the meantime I can see possible short-term alternatives
related to reviews:
1) send an invitation to the entire Aperi community talking about the
reviews we're doing and that we would love to see more reviews from a
client developer perspective.  Describe what we are looking for (email
describing comments about one profile at a time - Mike has a good start
on what is expected).  Aperi members that work for SMI member companies
can send comments directly to Duane?  Aperi members that are not
employed by a SNIA member company can submit comments via the SNIA
feedback portal.
2) Alternatively, perhaps Martine can harvest IBM Aperi reviewer
candidates, ask them to sign up for profiles, and have Duane or Martine
collect and forward comments to MAP.

My guess is that alternative 2 will be nearly as effective as
alternative 1 and require a fraction of the explaining. But since I'm
hoisting this work on you two, I realize my opinion doesn't really
matter :-)

Let me know if you have questions - I realize this may not be very
clear.

Paul
