We had a brief chat last week

Attendees were

Tim Buss
Brian Carrol
Adam Simantel
Summer Ficarrotta

We discussed the ALF Milestone 8 progress.

The Axis RPC-Literal and a few ather Axis2 bugs have been
resoolved and axis2 1.2 has been released
I decided to integrate these before posting the M8 build
Rampart is not yet avaialble for Axis2 1.2. It is expected
later in May so we have removed SSO processing from the ALF Event
Manager in the interim.

We decided to make this meetings ever two weeks instead of every week
for the time being.

Thanks,
Tim Buss, Serena Inc.

We had a brief chat last week

We discussed the ALF Milestone 8 progress.
SSO components were included in the last weeks turnover
The main Axis2 issue concering rpc-literal support appears to be
resolved in Axis1 1.2 RC2
Unfortunately Rampart, the Axis2 security component is not yet
available fir Axis2 1.2
Consequelty this weeks turnover will require axis2 1.2 RC2 for
the Event Manager and Axi2 1.1.1 for the security components.
Since we now have the major componets of M8 in place, I intent
to post this weeks turnover for general review and feedback.

We will touch base next week.

No call this week. We will have one next week just to catch up. I had
thought I'd have one this week but I left it a bit late and you are
probably all out of the habit so next week is probably better.

this week or next

Well EclipsCon came and went and I'm still busy with other ALF stuff -
trying to get Axis2 to bend to my will - so I don't think there is any
reason to have a call tomorrow.

A few points of interested

1. There is now an ActiveBPEL 3.0.3 that fixes a problem when
ws-addressing is being used

2. Axis2 claim to have fixed the rpc-literal but - at least they closed
the issue - but we are still trying to confirm they have indeed fixed
the problem. Early indications are that the fix introduced another bug
but I still have to confirm that. If the bug is not yet fixed we plan
to use document-literal style in the interim.

3. We hope to have the first build of Milestone 8 next week. This build
will use axis2 and include the SSO components. Hopefully this will
provide a subject we can discuss in next weeks meeting.

4. I will upload T8 of Milestone 7 shortly. This addresses some issues
with the callback scenario - BPEL correlation etc. and improves the
ALFEventEmitter tool to make it more robust and flexible.

Nothing to new report to this week and I'm busy with other ALF stuff so
no meeting tomorrow. With EclipseCon next week probably there is not
much point next week either.

A few points of interest.

1. I have confirmed that RPC-Literal works as expected through the Axis
1.X based ALF Event Manager calling ActiveBPEL 3.0.2

2. I found a bug in ActiveBPEL 2.1.1 that inconveniences the use of
RPC-literal. It requires the first two characters of the operation name
to be upper case. I reported this and there is now a fix in 3.0.2.

3. I found a bug in Axis2 1.1.1 that makes its rpc-literal
implementation non WS-I compliant and thus not interoperable. I
reported this and it was acknowledged. No word on a fix yet. Could be
it only affect the adb generation but I only tried that.

Work on finishing ALF M7 and starting M8 (axis2 and SSO) continues.

There will be no meeting this week or next since this week I am busy
with other aspects of the ALF project and I will be on vacation the
first half of next week.

I don't have anything particular to discuss this week. We will
re-convene next week. Sorry for the late notice. If there is something
pressing please send email to this mailing list.

One point I would like to draw your attention to is that a download of
the ALF runtime - Milestone 1.0M7 turnover 6 is now available.

http://www.eclipse.org/alf/downloads.php

This includes the latest ALF schema and the RPC-Literal WSDL.

Please download it and submit any bugs you find.

I have not yet updated the proposed SCM or Build vocabularies to reflect
this new WSDL but will try to get to it this week.

Thanks,
Tim

Schema changes 3. Any other business

0. Last meeting's minutes.
	Minutes accepted

1. Status on tasks

Done
T25 Reflect Operation refinements in Schema and WSDL Assigned to Tim.
Tim B updated and published the SCM Schema and WSDL so that it
is valid and can be used to generate an axis service using eclipse WTP
1.52.

T29. Define return values and faults
	merged with T24

T31 POC Use case Review
Adam Richard and others have reviewed this.

T32.	Investigate the use of xs:datetime for timestamps. WS-I
recommends against this for interoperability
Brian C investigated and concluded that the difficulty is that a
difficulty is that ISO 8601 used by schema can include timezone
information. We agreed that we needed a standard in any case so it
mightas well be xs:datetime.

TODO
T19 Wiki pictures. There are some placeholders for pictures in the
Wiki.
Tim Buss committed to do this

T24 Refine and Normalize Operations so they work as a coherent set and
define return values and faults.
	Dependant on POC

T27. ALF SCM vocabulary Eclipse WTP "stub" project.
This is now possible as part of T25. It was agreed that it
might be useful to commit a project thus generated.
Tim B will consider comitting it to eclipse as a sample

T28. Define and prototype "callback mechanism"
BPEL Correlation has been suggested as the mechanism. Tim Buss
to work on a prototype to illustrate this.

T33. Implement SCM POC
	Looking for resources/management approval

T34. Common Types
Look for comon type we can extract to a common defintion. Brian
comitted to taking a look at these

2. Event Declaration Schema changes
The information presented was sent elsewhere in the mailing list but the
basic issue is that Document Literal does not allow overloading so we
cannot use derived types to declare event restrictions and extensions.
It appears the RPC literal would allow this. It is proposed to change
the ALFEventManager to expose is service using RPC literal and for
Service Flows to use RPC literal for their service declaration. Tools
would then use these rpc literal defintions as a base to derive their
event restrictions and extensions as proposed. However it is still the
ALF recommended practice for Tools to use Document Literal or Document
Literal Wrapped for declaring their services for ALF.
There is some concern that this is confusing. There is still some
investigation to complete to ensure that RPC literal will solve the
problem.

3. Any Other Business
Not other business was discussed
