RE: [alf-dev] Apache Ant IP request questions
|
Hi Darin,
Thanks. I suspect that request was an unwanted
side effect of a CQ I had entered for the ALF project to make use of the
Internet2 OpenSAML 1.1 project. I was a bit surprised by the
behavior of the IpZIlla interface, as it spawned many more requests for the
dependent jars than I had intended. In an intrest in completeness and
to help trace the provenance, I had also listed dependencies from the source
distribution, not realizing that that "documentation" would spawn and individual
CQ for each. When I realized that, I sent the note, below to Janet
Campbell and Sharon Corbett, so they did not waste their time, and did not
realize that others were involved. I will clean up those spurious
requests.
Regards,
Brian
Dear
Sharon and Janet,
I just
submitted IPzilla CQ 1398 for Technology.ALF to make use of the 3rd party
component OpenSAML 1.1. However, I was unprepared for the volume of
information requested for supporting jars ( Ipzilla #1399 - 1411), and was
not prepared to supply that information before Bugzilla timed out again and lost
the data I had entered again.
Please
do not process these requests until I investigate and either
1. Supply the requested information
2. Determine that other versions of the dependent jars will work (such as
versions of ant and log4 that have already been approved.)
Sorry.
I came well prepared having researched OpenSAML licensing and provenance, but
had not gone into the same depth for the dependent jars. Also, IPZilla
crashed and lost all the data I had entered the first time (it took a while to
provide complete information on the first page), that did not want to have my
session time out again while I researched all the dependent
jars.
Good morning, I am a committer representative on the Eclipse board.
Therefore I take part in the review for
proposals for Eclipse projects usage of non-epl code. My understanding is that ALF has requested to use Ant
JARs from version 1.6.3 and ant-contrib.jar
1.6.3 I would like to know the
reasons the ALF project is looking to contribute Ant 1.6.3? This code base is over 2 years old and is no longer
recommended to be used by Apache Ant. As
well, with Ant 1.7.0 being put into Orbit it would possibly seem
unnecessary?
Also I am not sure what is "ant-contrib.jar
1.6.3"?
My understanding is that Ant contrib is a separate
project from Apache Ant that is hosted at SourceForge.
I believe
it is either in release 0.6 or beta for 1.0. Thank you for your
time Darins
