Description Christian Sell CLA 2005-05-18 15:46:15 EDT
since 3.1 a little window pops up in the right lower corner of the IDE when I
hit escape once too often (It reminds me of those little "helpers" that you have
to get rid of when first using Microsoft Office software). The window takes away
the focus and has to be dismissed by another hit of the Esc key.

The window does not seem to fill any need I share (didnt bother to find out,
really), but it does get into my way regularily. Please add a preference option
to disable it.

Ouch, a comparison to Office. Doug, you just got burned bigtime.
Comment 2 Christian Sell CLA 2005-05-18 16:02:51 EDT
sorry if I hurt anyones feelings ;-)
Comment 3 Douglas Pollock CLA 2005-05-18 16:12:35 EDT
There used to be an option, but it was pulled -- partly because the keys
preference page is amazingly complex as it is now.
Comment 4 Christian Sell CLA 2005-05-18 16:24:21 EDT
erm, can we get it back? please?
Comment 5 Christian Sell CLA 2005-05-23 17:18:35 EDT
any news on this one? its getting rather annoying, so I'd appreciate some hope
on the horizon.

I would like to again emphasize the importance of this item. I am creating a
diagram editor plugin which allows the user to direct edit labels inside the
diagram. The direct edit process will frequently be aborted by pressing the esc
key. Everytime the user does that, the popup appears and captures the focus. I
would consider this a major hindrance.

Is this still a problem in 3.3?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
