When trying to type a method for a class which is on an external jar, code
assist opens. After selecting the method I want eclipse hangs.

I noticed that this problem occurs when the method is in an external jar. I also
noticed that after a very long wait 10 minutes or so, it comes back.

One other thing, it seems this is related to the fill arguments... but I'm not sure.

Argument filling got significantly improved, so give a try to latest build.
Likely a dup of bug 86579.

Pls reopen if symptoms persist in latest, with exact steps to reproduce.

Close at there's more than 1 month without any feedback on this issue
=> consider it does no longer happen

As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
