The size of the widget should suggest that short prefixes should be used.

made it smaller by putting the label and the widget on the same line

I'm sorry, but it's still too big for my taste. It visually be something like 
10 characters wide. I don't know if the text field should be right or left 
aligned though.

hmm, it's ok for me - won't fix
some people might want long prefixes, like qualified type names or sth
