In various scenarios of adding plugins to a running Eclipse (ie., dynamic 
addition) I get prompted that some new action sets have been added and the 
perspective needs to be reset.

- do they really need to be reset?  I say no and the views etc still seem to 
show up.

- do they really need to be RESET?  Isn't that a little harsh?  I modify my 
debug perspective (for example) and save it as the "Debug" perspective so that 
any code which automatically opens perspectives gets mine.  Resetting throws 
all that away.  Could the perspectives be "refreshed" somehow?

- imagine if adding the flash plugin to IE prompted you to throw away all you 
links and view configuration options.  This is the viewpoint that RCP users 
will have when asked about reseting their perspectives.

Bug 6929 describes a scenario where we really do need to reset the 
perspective.  Just adding this notation here so that when we do fix this 
problem, we don't disrupt the fix for bug 6929.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
