Description Jenny Strømmen CLA 2021-12-02 03:59:55 EST
Hello.

I am trying to create a plugin in Eclipse. I have chosen "New -> Plugin-project -> ..."

I have made plugins out of two templates, none of them work:

1. "Hello world command" template using E4, by checking off the box "This plugin will contribute to the UI" and choosing "Tool line contribution using E4 API" as a template. This does not work when I run the application as an Eclipse Application. (Nothing shows in the UI)

2. Not checking off the box "This plugin will contribute to the UI", because according to https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18379519/how-to-create-an-ide-extension-with-eclipse-4 it will use Eclipse 3 dependencies. This made only one template available: "Sample Help Content", but as far as I can see the plugin should contribute a "Hello world" command from the tool line. When I start the plugin from "run as Eclipse Application", nothing is shown out of the ordinary.

I have not done anything with the templates before trying to run them.

Thank you very much for your help.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
