Description Carsten Hammer CLA 2020-11-23 14:05:37 EST
The tooling in jdt.ui Source->Find broken externalized Strings finds a lot of unused(?) strings. Some of them are definitely unused but have been restored 10 years ago because a customer made use of it (see Bug 296836). I guess today is the time to finally remove them. Others might be still used but the tool is not smart enough to see it with current bundle visibility and dependency.

Some tests are failing now and I suspect responsible are some strings that should not be removed. Maybe moving them to another bundle helps to cleanup?

It looks like jdt is violating for years the requirements for being part of the simultaneus release, doesn‘t it

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
