with the work on Bug #543746 the Project Explorer and Navigator show explanatory text on empty workspace. This feature would be very helpful also for RCPs providing their own CNF based viewers. The main work is done by the Project Explorer and Navigator should show explanatory text on empty workspace EmptyWorkspaceHelper class. However this class is internal and final. 

Therefore the only approach I current see is a copy and modify approach. Which does not make me very comfortable.
