When using "Window->Editor->Toggle Split Editor" (horizontal/vertical),
then actual opened file will be split.

However, I want to view another file side by side.

So please provide this: when dragging a tab or a file from the workspace-explorer to one of the actual splitted editor, this file should be shown in this splitted area. So I can cross view two different files when using "Toggle Split Editor".

Or better:

Look for example, at "Visual Studio Code": the splitting of different editor-tabs is really great (Menu: Code->View->Editor-Layout (Split up/down/left/right, two columns, 3 columns, grid, etc.). Eclipse IDE should extend its "Toggle Split Editor" to have such abilities..

There are no plans to work on this. If you need this, please provide a Gerrit change and reopen this bug report.
