Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a java editor
2. Open the javadoc view
3. click back in the java editor

The cursor caret is gone.

This works fine for me using http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/I20180516-2000/

The given steps leave room for variations. Please provide exact detailed steps starting with a new workspace and using above build.

Unzip that build ^
open a new workspace
Create a java project
add a class with a main method
See that the caret is visible
open the javadoc view
click back in the editor
caret is gone

I can reproduce now, even with 3.8. Interesting that there wasn't any report about that in the past.

Key is to not click on the input element of the Javadoc view.

Moving to JDT Text, but could also be an SWT bug.

Yes indeed. I see this bug for a long time already but never had the energy to report it.

Indeed, but sometimes you want to follow links in the javadoc.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
