The attached code compiles with version 4.6 but with version 4.7 gives an error: "Type mismatch: cannot convert from Object[] to Regression.DDTable<?,?>[]"

Thanks, I can reproduce.

With all the wildcard captures in the context of type inference it will not be easy to figure out what's the expected behaviour per JLS.

Will look into this after Java 9 work.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
