Description Simon Arsenault CLA 2003-12-01 12:42:34 EST
In the WizardNewFileCreationPage, there should be a method to set what the
default file extension should be. So when the page is asked to create the new
file, it can check the entered file name if it ends with the default file
extension provided, and if not, append it to the end of the file name.

Is anyone taking care about this bug? I could try to create a patch for it.

Comment 6 Jakub Jurkiewicz CLA 2007-01-29 09:04:01 EST
I have started creating a patch, but I've got one doubt. What should be done if a user enters a file name with his own extension, e.g. "name.txt" and the default extension is set to "abc"? Should the extension given by the user be changed or it should be kept?
Comment 7 Tod Creasey CLA 2007-01-29 09:25:12 EST
You would want to use the extension provided by the developer - otherwise this would break existing behaviour
Comment 8 Jakub Jurkiewicz CLA 2007-01-29 09:36:03 EST
Ok, so the default extension provided by the developer should be appended to the full name given by the user (with the custom extension)?
Comment 9 Karice McIntyre CLA 2007-01-29 09:53:40 EST
Jakub, take a look at the patch for bug 134740 - I think it provides the function requested by this bug.

Prakash is now responsible for watching bugs in the [Wizards] component area.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
