Although an "unnamed" editor can be created, often there are times when an actual scratch pad view when collating "pieces" from several places in each of multiple source files. By having a distinct view, tab switching can be minimized.

In 4.x you can put the editor with the untitled file anywhere in the IDE which gives you the same experience like a view.

The problem with this is that this editor will be gone after restart if the content isn't saved.
